Sonic CD is one of the classic games during the early days of SEGA. It was also the first game to be released for the SEGA system. The gameplay is pretty much the same as the classic Sonic games from the Genesis. You basically control Sonic making him move from the level as well as letting him jump. Making him move fast is good but you also have to pay attention from time to time. You can encounter bosses at the end of the stage after multiple acts. Maintain at least a single ring

One thing that will keep you alive in the game is to have a stock of rings in hand. Whenever Sonic is hit, he will lose all the rings but you have a chance to salvage them and get as many rings as you can back. You may not get all of them but at least you can get some. Keep in mind if Sonic has 0 rings then he will instantly die the moment he is hit. Then again even if he has rings, falling directly to a pit can kill Sonic right away. One useful tip is that if you don’t care for points then you can just focus on having one ring just to stay alive but be sure to get that ring if yo get hit.

Go fast but pay attention as well

One of the allure of the classic Sonic games was going fast. You see Sonic blitzing through the screen making for a nice visual. Going fast is always a treat but there are times when you have to slow down and pay attention to the screen. There are times when you have to perform some tricky platforming so that you don’t fall to your death. You can’t go fast in these sections so pay close attention.

Power ups and bosses

You can get some power ups along the levels. The blue orb is useful as it allows you to take a hit without losing rings. The speed shoes make you go faster but you better pay attention again to the platforming aspect. Then there is the temporary invulnerability that allows you to take hits and destroy enemies upon hitting them but even this can’t help you from falling pits. When it comes to the bosses, they can have patterns that you need to know more. When you do manage to narrow down the pattern just rinse and repeat and again maintain a single ring for survival.

Go for those special stages

Special stages are a staple in Sonic games. When you complete an act with 50 or more rings, a giant ring will appear at the end. Jump to that ring to enter the special stage. The stage changes into a third person view. Your goal is to simply get enough rings before the timer ends. Sonic will be continuously moving so make sure to navigate him as well so that he can get the Chaos Emerald at the end and be sure to collect all seven of them.
